Nez Perce Pass is a mountain pass located in the Bitterroot Range of the Rocky Mountains, on the border between Montana and Idaho in the western United States. It sits at an elevation of 5,883 feet (1,793 m) above sea level and is traversed by the continental divide. Historically, the Nez Perce people used this pass as part of their migration route through the mountains. In 1877, during the Nez Perce War, it was also the site of a battle between the Nez Perce and the U.S. Army. Today, the pass is primarily used by hikers, backpackers, and hunters, with a trailhead located near the border of the Bitterroot National Forest and Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and passes through a diverse range of ecosystems, including montane forests, subalpine meadows, and alpine tundra.
